Yorkshire Life Aquatic – “..because we’re worth it!”

Through initial concept through our research and development in 2013 and 2014, Yorkshire Life Aquatic has:

Performed in over 50 locations, 75+ performances over 56 days. Performed in front of over 8,000+ people.

Lead over 200 workshops experienced by 1000+ participants. Engaged over 1,500,000 people online/media coverage. Worked with 65 artists as performers, makers and mentors.

Formed ‘Bramley Mermaid Club’ –  prototyping a new model of creative exercise. This has now been running for four years, including inclusion in the Leeds European Capital of Culture Blog featuring our pledge towards the European capital of culture bid. 

Bramley mermaids is a unique partnership between a pool and an arts company where we can develop ground breaking models that merge practical wellbeing with artistic endeavour. Bramley Mermaids have created unusual water choreographies including work for: Mermaid Tales ( collaborating with Leeds Synchronised swimming’s team lead coach Sarah Spears), Thriller -in – the -pool ( where audiences learnt and joined the performance) and most recently, Around the World – the opening performance for the Bramley Baths pledge to the capital of culture bid for 2023.

Other Models include: Junior Mermaids ( water dance performance courses for 8-12’s in Bramley), Mermaids and Pirates Community Projects ( as part of Leeds Waterfront festival 2014 and 2016) and Synchronised Spectacular (performances for large groups – in this case 70+ WI’s in Bradford.)
